Cross Country, Road & Trail
The Cross Country, Road & Trail section of the club operates year round for senior members (18+) and from April to September for junior members (under 18). We cater for all ages and offer specific training for all events from cross country and 5KM road races through to marathon and ultra distance events.

The Club Week
The club week shows the regular training & events that are on during the year along with the day, time and location where appropriate. To confirm if the training or event is actually on for a specific week, refer to the season calendar. Please also note that junior training (under 18) only operates from April through to September each year.
Junior Training
Tuesday nights caters for all age groups.
Juniors Coach – Thomas Coleman
Trainings will be held at Hansen Park, Address : 16A Butler Street, Opawa, Christchurch 8023, on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 5:00pm. Trainings usually last between 60-75 minutes at the longest for the 12+ age group. Younger ages are approximately 45 minutes.
All abilities are welcome. This is not just directed at juniors, seniors and parents who are determined to improve their running are also very welcome. The focus of group trainings will be to improve aerobic fitness and endurance, enhancing VO2 Max and performance. These essential running attributes will make you run further, faster and more efficiently. NOTE: We have groups for 12+ and younger. The younger children are looked after by Hannah.

“I am a certified Athletics New Zealand Running Coach and have been running with Port Hills for around 7 years. Over that time I have represented Canterbury at the U18 and U20 level. I am currently completing a Bachelor of Sport Coaching degree at University of Canterbury, Majoring in Sports science and Minoring in Strength and Conditioning. I became a coach because inspiring people to try their best and having a great time when training is so rewarding.”
