SUMMARY:The Mid-Winter Time Trial
DESCRIPTION:Entries close on Monday 21 July at 5pm at $5 per person.  \nLocation: Hagley Park \nLoops – 1k in length \nU20\, Seniors & Younger (under 50) Masters – 3k \nU18 & Masters 50+ – 2k \nU16 – 1k \n​​ \nOpen to both Athletic Canterbury Runners and PAPO members for a $5.00 fee. Club secretaries see footer. PAPO members entry approach to follow.  \n​ \nRunners will be allocated a time to be in the pre-start area where they will be given their finger timers and instruction on how to use them. \n​ \nAt timed intervals (possibly 30 seconds) runners in different grades will be set off.  Runners will then run their respective laps (1\, 2 or 3) and finish by inserting their finger timer in the finishing box.  \n​ \nLive finishing times will be posted as people download their data – will those who start early hold off the later runners? \n​ \nDue to the nature of the event there will be no \non-the-day entries.  \nFor more details on this event\, see the website: https://athscanterburynz.wixsite.com/crosscountry25/time-trial

DESCRIPTION:This championship race serves to identify the local champions\, as well as acting as the selection race for the National Champs. It is the pinnacle race for the Cross Country season. \nThe race is open to all competitors\, but those wishing to be considered for selection to the Canterbury team to compete at the National Cross Country Championships will need to be an Athletics NZ registered member. \nEntries Close: Monday 7th July  5pm \nFor those aged under 18 as of 31/12/2024 it will cost $7 and for those 18 and over it will cost $12 \nIf you want to run as a Community Runner for those aged U18 as of 31/12/2024 it will cost $10 and for those 18 and over it will cost $20

DESCRIPTION:This event is a relay with two races the first being the U16 race which is 4 x 2.5km which is one lap. The second race is for those aged 16 and over which is 4 x 5km which is two laps. The entries close for this event on Monday 2nd June at 5pm\, and for those over 16 the cost is $12 and for those under 16 the cost is $7. For those wanting to enter as a Community Runner\, the cost is $12 for U16 and $22 for those aged U18 and over.

SUMMARY:Friday Night Lights - 2025
DESCRIPTION:This is  being held on Friday May 16 with the first race the U16 which will be over 2 x 1.5km which will start at 6pm and to enter this will cost $7 and this event does one lap and the has a 5 minute wait after the first runner ahs finished and then you do your second lap. The second race is those U18 and over and will be over 3 x 1.5km and this race starts at 6.25pm and will cost $12. A Community Runner or Late Entry for the U16 will cost $10 and for the U18 and over will cost $20. \nMen’s / Women’s Eliminator: Caution! This race could get interesting! The eliminator is a ‘last person standing’\, 3 lap affair\, with the field being halved after each lap. Each lap will be followed by a 2 minute break that begins the moment the winner of the lap crosses the finish line. The winner of the 2nd lap is awarded $150 and the winner of the 3rd and final lap is awarded $350. Selection & field size for the eliminator will be announced Thursday 15th of May at 8pm. Those interested in being selected to compete in the eliminator need to express interest and provide a recent 5k time in the entry form. \nExample: \n40 person field\, first 20 through the line go through to the second lap\, first 10 through the line go through to the third and final lap (minimum of 10 people will start the third lap\, regardless of field size). \nThe Women’s Race is at 6.55pm and the Men’s Race is at 7.30pm and will cost $12 to enter. \n\nGiven the limited numbers in the Eliminator event\, clubs must identify those who wish to run in this event and will be advised by Thursday night whether entry has been accepted. All those who do not make the Eliminator event will be entered in the Open event.\n\nEntries close at 5pm on Sunday 11 May.

SUMMARY:Canterbury One Mile and 5K Champs - 2024
DESCRIPTION:The Canterbury One Mile and 5K Champs is a new event which for the One Mile is for all ages those Under 16 will cost $7 and those in grades 18 and over will cost $12. The 5K is only for those ages 14 as at 31/12/2024 and over and will cost $12. Those of you in this category who want to do both the One Mile and the 5K will also only have to pay the one fee of $12 to do both races. Anyone can enter who was a registered athlete last year and/or a registered athlete this season which opens on April 1. Entries for these events will close on Monday 8 April at 0000.
